Full Face Helmets Required

New USA Cycling rules require the use of full face helmets for downhill racing. If you don't have one, get one. They might be available on-site.

Saturday Schedule

OK so we added an hour to each of the practice times on Saturday which will move racing back about 2 hours or so. More practice= more fun.

Start yer mouth a watterin'

Here's the menu from our BBQ dude:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings Blue Flame BBQ will have ready at 8am hot fresh donuts made on-site and Tully's coffee. The donuts will remain available till 10am. Lunch will consist of sandwiches as before as well as offering salad during lunch time for those who enjoy a meatless lifestyle. Lunch will be ready at 11:30 and go till food runs out. We will prepare for approximately 300 people. Dinner fare will be offered at 4pm, consisting of chicken or ribs with salad, pit roasted baby red spuds and cold drink. For those who prefer steaks and salmon, we will have on hand enough for about 50 people unless early orders cause for more supplies to be delivered . We should wrap up around 7pm .

Be sure to support him if you can, he's stoked to be a part of it all.

Some travel info.

Hood Canal Bridge closes May 1 for six weeks

Starting May 1, 2009, the Hood Canal Bridge will close to traffic so the WSDOT can replace the east half along with the east and west trusses. The construction, which will temporarily shut down the primary link between the north Olympic and Kitsap peninsulas, is scheduled to last six weeks.

If you can, come over on Thursday sometime before midnight and it will save you some hassles. The campground has a special for people in the next post. If I were you, I would try to negotiate a half rate or something with a hotel if that's your lodging choice. They should be receptive given the bridge situation.

The May-June the closure will be challenging for travelers, but the Olympic Peninsula will still be open for business. WSDOT encourages people to get ready now by reviewing their transportation options to determine the best route.

The new Hood Canal Bridge will be wider, safer and more reliable. New construction and retrofit work will extend the useable life of the bridge by 75 years and allow WSDOT to increase capacity by two lanes in the future without significant closures.

To learn more about the project, how to get ready for the closure, and the transportation options being offered in May-June 2009, visit www.HoodCanalBridge.com.

Wrap-up from FR Cup #1

Results are available here: www.fluidride.com/2009/04/09/fr-cup-round-1-results/#more-393

Thanks to everyone who attended our biggest and best event yet. Everyone was so patient with the turn-out it was a pleasure to work our butts off. Overall it was a sick and safe weekend of racing, with only one collarbone and a couple of scrapes. We love it when our EMT's are bored.

The BBQ man is going to add some more items to his list for next time, so if you have any suggestions, let me know. I asked him to get something in the $5-$6 zone. His food rocks and he is stoked to be a part of it so thanks for supporting him.

The next race is requiring us to make some scheduling adjustments so keep an eye for that. www.pinnedmtb.com has a great site for the ProGRT and you can click on the Fluidride Cup to get a lot of info in one spot.

Remember the bridge will be closing Thursday the 30th of April at midnight, so if you can, come over Thursday at some point. I will be working on our lodging providers offering some sort of deal to make this a little more economically feasable for you all. I'm going to try for a rate that makes a 3 for the price of 2 nights if we can.

Already working hard on the next one, hope my boss doesn't mind!!!
